How to use this tool
Upload a .zip of up to 200 MB. Its contents are listed with their folders, and each file has its own download button, so you can take one document out of a large archive without saving the rest. Only the file you click is decompressed.
What it can and can't open
- Standard .zip files, including ones made by Windows, macOS and phones, and zips that contain folders.
- Password-protected zips are recognised and reported as such, but can't be opened, because there is no password step.
- .rar, .7z and .tar.gz archives are different formats and aren't read.
- Files that are really zips under another name can be opened by renaming them to .zip first. Word, Excel and PowerPoint files (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx) are built this way, which is a quick way to pull out the original pictures embedded in a document.
Taking out everything at once
This tool takes files out one at a time and doesn't write folders to your computer. It suits pulling a few documents out of a large archive, or a computer where you can't install an unzip program. To extract the whole archive, use the zip you already have: right-click it and choose "Extract All" on Windows, or double-click it on a Mac.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can this open a password-protected zip file?
No. The archive is recognised as password-protected and you get a message saying so, but there is no way to enter a password here. Open it with a program that asks for the password, such as 7-Zip.
Does this handle a zip that contains folders, not just loose files?
Yes. The list shows the full path of every file, such as invoices/2026/september.pdf, so you can see where each one sits. Each file downloads on its own, under its file name without the folder path.
What happens if the zip file is corrupted or incomplete?
The archive fails to load with an error message rather than showing a partial or incorrect file list, since a damaged zip's internal index can't be reliably read. If you downloaded the file, try re-downloading it — corruption is often an incomplete transfer rather than a problem with the original archive.
