How to use this tool
Type or paste the text or link. The code redraws as you type, and the line under the size slider tells you its version (how dense it is) and how many modules, the small squares, it has on each side. Choose Download SVG for print or Download PNG for screens and uploads. The PNG size snaps to a whole number of pixels per module, so it can be a few pixels off the slider value.
Why the module count matters
A scanner has to tell each module apart, so whether a printed code works depends on the size of one module, not of the whole code. Printed 3 cm wide, the default https://example.com is version 2, 33 modules across with the margin, so each module is 0.91 mm. Add ?utm_source=flyer&utm_campaign=diwali and it jumps to version 4, 41 across, and the same 3 cm gives 0.73 mm per module. Small modules are the first to fail on glossy paper, in dim light or from a distance, so when a code has to stay small, shorten what it encodes before anything else.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do these QR codes expire or stop working?
No. The text or URL is stored in the pattern itself (a "static" code), so there is no account, subscription or redirect service behind it that could lapse. It stops being useful only if the page it points to goes away, which is why a URL on a domain you control is the safest thing to encode for anything printed.
Which error-correction level do these codes use, and can I change it?
Every code from this page uses level M, which can recover from roughly 15% of the pattern being damaged or covered. There is no setting to change it. If you plan to paste a logo over the middle, a code with level Q or H from another generator is the safer choice, because those spare more of the pattern for recovery at the cost of a denser grid.
Should I download the PNG or the SVG?
For anything printed, the SVG: it is drawn as vector shapes, so a print shop or a layout program can scale it to any size with perfectly sharp edges. The PNG is for places that only accept images, such as a slide, a chat message or an upload form. Its width is always a whole number of pixels per module, so the squares stay crisp, and it is the same size on every device.
